Rubber Ducky Isopods
Cubaris sp. "Rubber Ducky"
RareCare ★★★☆☆
The isopod that made the hobby famous. A bright yellow 'face' and a smoky body make Rubber Duckies look like little bath toys. They like a moist, mossy side to retreat to and plenty of cork bark to graze.

How to keep Rubber Ducky isopods
- Keep one end of the tub damp with moss, the other end drier.
- Good cross-ventilation matters: stuffy, stagnant tubs are the most common cause of losses.
- Colonies build slowly, so avoid disturbing them often.
- Feed leaf litter and decaying hardwood as a staple, with cuttlebone for calcium and a small pinch of protein (fish flakes or dried shrimp) once a week.
- Use a tub with small vents and deep organic substrate (topsoil, coco fibre, leaf litter), with cork bark for hides.
